In collaboration with architect Geno Yun and ELS Architecture, this project delivered a new building shell for Whole Foods at the Coddingtown Shopping Center in Santa Rosa. The design features a25-foot-tall steel stud and stucco curtain wall that encloses a grid of 8-inchsquare columns supporting the primary roof structure. Operable roof monitors were integrated to allow natural light in and release heat, enhancing energy performance and daylighting.

A striking design element is the main entry roof, which was pre-assembled on the ground. Weighing two tons, it was lifted into place and supported by four16-inch square plinth-style columns, creating a bold and functional entry statement.

Close coordination with the design team resulted in a cohesive and well-documented set of construction drawings, allowing the project to be completed on time and within budget. Site enhancements include artworks by local artists, a functional bioswale for stormwater management, and the placement of mature imported palm trees to establish an inviting and sustainable landscape.
